NAFTA Should Be Strengthened, Not Terminated
February 28, 2018
As NAFTA negotiations continue this week, it is important to remember the many benefits that free and open trade bring to the United States. In 2014, U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico supported over 12 million American jobs. The U.S. exported $604 billion in goods and services to Mexico and Canada in 2015 – a $375 billion increase since 1999. Unfortunately, these jobs and economic growth will all be put at risk if we withdraw from or significantly alter NAFTA.
